Gut Nutrition provides specialist dietitian support for people diagnosed with coeliac disease or inflammatory bowel disease (IBD); either ulcerative colitis (UC), Crohn’s disease (CD) or IBD unclassified as neither CD or UC.

Gut Nutrition has in-person or video consultations on Friday afternoons. Video consultations are also available on Wednesday evenings.

A brief nutrition assessment and plan (50 minute appointment) is $210. A
A Comprehensive Gut Nutrition Assessment is a three phase package. It includes a 45 minute assessment appointment, completion of gut-specific questionnaires and food and symptom diary. This data is then analysed and compiled into an individual written report. At a second appointment we discuss the report findings and together develop an initial nutrition plan. This comprehensive assessment costs $380.
Follow up assessments (30 minute appointment) are $120.
In some cases short telephone assessments are adequate (15 minutes) and cost $55.

The number of appointments you will need will depend on the treatment required. For example, if your IBD is in remission and you would like to discuss diet and nutrition to help maintain remission then you may only need one appointment. If you would like support implement dietary strategies to maintain remission, you will likely need three or more appointments. If you are looking to use a 12 week nutritional therapy to treat active Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis you will need three appointments and a short telephone review.

Catherine has extensive experience working with people with many gut diseases and disorders including coeliac disease, diverticular disease, irritable bowel syndrome, lactose intolerance, constipation as well as other health conditions such as diabetes. You can discuss your needs with Catherine prior to making an appointment.

We tend to recommend meeting your nutritional needs from food. You may be recommended to take nutritional supplements if there is good evidence to support the use of a nutritional supplement (e.g. Ensure Plus, Fortisip, specific vitamins or minerals).
Most of the nutritional supplements that you might be recommended are available on prescription. Gut Nutrition dietitians can prescribe these for you.
